An announcement by the Government that in order to work in the UK nurses will have to be able to speak English has met a sceptical response from Warley MP John Spellar.
John Spellar MP said:-
“Being able to communicate with and understand patients should clearly be an essential requirement. But the real story here is the Government’s stubborn refusal to train enough of our own youngsters. If Ministers really want to be effective they should kick the health bureaucrats’ backsides and ramp up the number of training places – and certainly not cut them as they have been doing.”
