Black Country MP John Spellar was outraged to discover the absence of the Black Country flag on display in Parliament Square in advance of County Flag Day.
Spellar took immediate action and asked the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government to consider adding the Black Country flag.
Spellar added: “In Sandwell I see a lot more of the Black Country flag than I do the historic flags of Staffordshire, Warwickshire or Worcestershire.
“It is about time the Black Country flag be given equal consideration by central Government. Not only is it a reflection of local identity – it is also the only British regional flag to depict working class history and heritage.”
